Sources of inspiration

Sources of inspiration

I have been in web design and development industry for more more than 10 years now. I believe that we can learn a lot by observing the work of great artists. In today’s post I would like to share some new sources of inspirations I came across on the Behance Network , a platform where creative professionals from all overt he world share their great work.

I would like to start by discussing my feelings about “Minimalist effect in the maximalist market ” project of Mehmet Gozetlik . In his project Mehmet Gozetlik is showing us how the packaging of a brand name would look like if it was simplified. In some instances when packaging is too simple I get the feeling it is a no name brand or if the packaging was done way back in time.  i.e. The more simplified variation of the packaging of “Nutella” and the fourth variation of  “Vanish Stain Remover” are great examples. If this package and a no name brand was side to side I would probably buy the no name brand since it is cheaper. On the other hand the simplified variations of the packaging of “POLO” candies, “Evian” water and “Schweppes”  seem to create a sense of clarity. And as a buyer I would be much more tempted to buy this variation of packaging rather than the original packaging.

Insects” project of Max Kostenko is a project that has been prepared for Volkswagen.  When I look at these illustrations I truly get the illusion that I am watching an animated movie.  Characters are extremely well drawn. Watching the process is a great pleasure. The video makes one think that it is so easy to create such illustrations. But of course,  anyone who has tried to create an illustration in Adobe Photoshop  can very easily see how talented Max Kostenko is.

Illustration 2010” project by Denis Zilber is a set of commercial and editorial illustrations. All illustrations are extremely well drawn. While I was looking at each illustration I felt that I was in a different world. The old saying  an image being worth 1000 words is certainly applicable to these illustrations.

A work in progress – Solitude 2010/2011″ project of Joe Fenton is a great example of how great artists could be so patient. Seeing this master at work while he creates a 8ft across & 5ft  high master piece is certainly a true source of  inspiration to all of us.
